Silly Lexi

Lexi is a handful, but she's a hilarious handful. I've started posting some of her funny sayings on facebook but I want to add some things on the blog as well.

One night I thought she was sound asleep in her bed. When i went to check on her after about 30 minutes, she wasn't in her room. However, my bedroom door was closed. I walked into the bedroom to find my makeup all over my bed and all over her. Of course, she was proud of how pretty she looked.

Another day I came home and thought Edgar had found a new pair of capris for Lexi from the hand me down clothes people had given us. As I looked more and more at them I could tell something wasn't right and then it dawned on me. She was wearing Nico's suit pants. She had changed into them herself which was not surprising to me since she changes her clothes about three times a day.

Yes, the same pants.

She will often grab one of her play purses or keys and tell me she is going to work.

When she get's mad at her daddy she will call him "Edgar Lopez" in such a serious voice. It makes daddy angry, but it makes me laugh.

She started making friends and would just call them all "friend". "Friend, don't do that" "Friend, come play with me" "Friend what are you doing?". She learned one of their names and now she calls them all by that one name.

Solid Foods

Nico started eating solids at about 5 months. he ate cereal in his bumbo. He kept making funny faces like he hated it and then would open his mouth or reach our for more. I really love that I can be there for so many of their firsts even though i have to work. It's great that Edgar allows me to have the moments with kids.

Easter

We decorated eggs at grandma's house. Lexi used grandma's new apron and made it as pretty as the eggs.

Easter day was lots of fun. Nico got his first suit and he looked adorable. Lexi got some more dress up clothes. She loves to "get dressed" in them all of the time. We went to church with my mom after the Easter bunny visited our house and we did a small Easter egg hunt.

There was another egg hunt at grandma's house.

Baby Blessing

We tried to bless Nico in January but the day of we woke up with sore throats. We changed it to February and he ended up being blessed on the day of the super bowl. It was a nice blessing despite Edgar being so nervous. A lot of my family was there & a few of our friends. It was a great experience for me and I was grateful that he was able to be blessed by three months.

Bouncing Baby

Nico loves to bounce. I could probably say at four months it is his favorite thing to do. I found a door hanging bouncer. After it was set up I put Nico in it and all he waned to do is eat around the rim. The second I took him out he started jumping on me. I think it may take time but he'll get the hang of it.

Potty Training

After a few failed attempts we are trying the potty training thing again. I tried a few times and it ended up in both of us being irritated with one another. She then took it upon herself in July but that only lasted a month and she was back to diapers. She started going to the bathroom on her own again last week so we set the date for Monday the 3rd of January to "stop wearing diapers". She will still wear them when she's sleeping though. So far she's been doing pretty good. We are trying the "get a sticker every time you go potty" method. We had to go out and run some errands so we put a pull up on. The errands took twice as long as we were expecting and she had an accident. Of course I didn't have any new underwear or pull ups but I did have diaper. At first she didn't want to put it on but after a few minutes trying to convince her she clapped her hands and shouted "yeah" because she was going to have to wear a diaper.

The seventh of January, five days into the potty training, and she had an accident free day! She's had two accident free nights as well. Two more days like this, it's all we need (this is what mommy decided). The next thing is to teach her to completely finish before she tries to flush. She gets around 5 flushes each time otherwise. I think it was Wednesday and she looked where we keep the diapers and shouted "goodbye diapers" and waved goodbye.

The nice thing about having some time home to help is that Edgar can't just get frustrated and put her in diapers. If he does that when I go back to work then he will have problems because I refuse to buy her more diapers and he will have to start all over with her from scratch.

On the 10th it had been three days completely accident free. I'm calling it official now and hope it sticks this time. It looks more promising so I think we won't have a problem. Mommy is so excited and Lexi now can wear necklaces because she's a big girl (it was our deal if she went three days without an accident). She even wears undies to bed. Good job Lexi!!!

What a Day

Last night I told Edgar I had a bad feeling about today. Now the day is almost over and I know why. Around noon we had to go out to run some errands. We got the kids in the car, turned the key and nothing happened. The battery was dead (for the second time in a week). I called my sister who lives about a block away and she said she would send her husband as soon as he got back from taking things to the city dump. About thirty minutes later he was at my house. My car was in our parking spot facing inwards with cars on either side so we had to try and push the care out of the spot. I put the car in neutral and shut the door so it wouldn't get hit and my car locked. The dead battery caused my alarm to short and lock my car with my key in it.

My brother in law made some calls an then went to get a hanger. After a few tries with that we found more help and luckily were able to get my door unlocked. Two men tried to push my car out and it wouldn't budge. My brother in law then has to pull my car out with his truck at an angle because there is a building behind the car.

We finally got the car charged and I headed to Auto Zone to get the battery checked which was, of course, a "bad battery". I bought a new battery and called my sister (because she's good with cars) who said she could change the battery. I started my car and it was even more dead than it was before. I called my sister back who sent her husband again. (They have a baby so one of them has to stay there). He came and changed my battery and I was good to go.

As we were driving around with our errands a warning that my steering power fluid was low came on. This wouldn't have been so bad except it came on the month before and I had just topped of everything two weeks before. We continued with our next errand to get my husband's prescription and the pharmacy we usually go to of course did not carry it. My son was screaming so we had to stop at my mom's house so I could feed him before we headed to a different pharmacy. When we got to the next pharmacy they did not carry it either but luckily they were able to find it at another store so we could pick it up the next day.

We made it home about 8 pm. Our two hour errands ended up taking my whole day. Despite all the problems we had there were the positives. I am grateful that my brother-in-law was around to help me, twice. I am grateful that I did not have to pay for a lock smith. I am grateful that my mom lives by where we had to do errands so that I could feed the baby. I am grateful that we were able to find Edgar's prescription at the end of the day. Despite the bad there was a lot of good and I believe they were blessings because I was definitely praying and thinking "trust Him".

Family Holiday Party

I'm not really into setting New Year's resolutions because I never follow through with them and then I feel like I don't have to try again until the next year. I am going to put a goal of trying to do my blog more often. I hope Edgar's family will look at it occasionally so they can stay up to date with what we are doing.

Today we had a Holiday party with my family at my mom's house. It was fun and almost everyone was there. We did a white elephant and I think most people enjoyed it. After that we played some games. I really enjoy playing games that make you think and that we can laugh at because I think people can enjoy themselves no matter if they "win or lose".
Trishelle and Racheal are wearing antlers they won from the White Elephante.
